Clinical Biobanking: Leveraging Pharmacogenetics in Drug Development

Key historical examples of the utility of pharmacogenetics in drug development will be presented that have helped shape a novel strategic approach at Merck for conducting pharmacogenetics analyses of pipeline compounds. Samples from clinical trial subjects globally are collected and genotyping is conducted in real time to address scientific questions that help identify important opportunities for both reverse and forward translational. Key examples including GWAS approaches and candidate gene approaches that have helped decision making will be provided.
