Recent advancements in science and engineering are revolutionizing our understanding of an individual’s disease and with this knowledge we are gaining an increasingly sophisticated understanding how discovery can be transformed to deliver personalised medical therapy for our patients. To reach this future state, we must re-engineer our approach to enable greater human relevance models to be used earlier in the drug discovery. This will require performing biological experiments in miniaturized format and therefore necessitate changing how we introduce test molecules to the biology. With these shifting paradigms, Discovery Supply compound management teams at GSK are gearing up modernizing our compound storage and handling platforms. During this talk, I will discuss various emerging technologies and approaches such as microarrays, nano-well and microfluidics devices that could bring fundamental changes in conventional sample handling support from the well-plate to well-less plate based support.
